Horns are
naturally grown items and the size and quality
varies considerably. Each horn has to be heated and
shaped - a skilled and time-consuming process - and
few horns will turn out perfect. This is to be
expected and natural cracks and colour variations
must be accepted as normal characteristics.
Obviously you would not receive a horn stick that
had serious defects! We can not guarantee crooks
as working tools for catching sheep, as the
stresses imposed on a working crook are
considerable. The ones we make are generally for
light use, as in walking/hiking or as display
items.
These sticks are not
often available and usually need to be ordered well
in advance!
The
pictures below show previously made sticks - not
actual ones in stock now! Horns vary a lot in exact
shape - and colour can vary from pale cream through
to black, depending on breed of sheep. It is
impossible to guarantee identical results each time
- each horn stick is unique!
