The RegencyA handle you can really hold! Designed especially for people who are a bit "wobbly" on their feet, this type of stick is a MUST for anyone who wants real support. The handle is very stylish and doesn't look as if it came straight from a hospital ward. The Regency has, in fact, become the most popular of all the handle shapes. It feels really comfortable and the design of the stick positions the hand and arm directly above (and in line with) the stick shaft, so all your weight is transmitted directly to the ground. There is no flexing or wobbling of the shank, as can happen when the handle is offset to one side. These sticks have to be handled to be really appreciated and the comments I get from customers in my shop lead me to believe that these are the most comfortable sticks around. If you have to rely on a stick and want style and comfort - look no further! We normally have a few of these in stock - as they are so popular we make lots of them - but each is still handmade! We normally use natural hazel or chestnut shanks. The addition of a collar can strengthen the joint between handle and shank and I would recommend you add one to your selection if you will be putting a lot of weight on the stick. We like to use interesting and unusual woods for the handles Typically we would use something from the following list: Elm, Sycamore, Cherry, Walnut, Beech, Alder, Ash, Oak and Mahogany - but if we see something we like we will try it. As each of these sticks is handmade, no two are identical. Occasionally we are asked to make a pair of sticks and we can try to make them as similar as possible. If you wish to specify a choice of wood for the handle then please email first to check availability. Shanks are usually hazel or chestnut but we sometimes use other woods.
